Emre Karter is the CEO and Board Member of Citibank A.S. Türkiye.
In addition to this role, he is responsible for managing Citi’s Hub-Managed Countries in Central Asia and Transcaucasia.
Prior to his current role, he served as the Treasury and Trade Solutions Cluster Head for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Dubai, where he led the Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions business.
Emre Karter’s other previous experience include managing the Transaction Services business for Russia, CIS, Central &Eastern Europe, based in Moscow. Earlier in his career, Mr. Karter held several sales & coverage roles, leading origination and client management for Citi’s multinational and financial institutions client segments in Türkiye.
Emre joined Citi in 1996, starting as a banker in Corporate Bank Türkiye before taking on a Belgium based role coordinating the Bank’s multinational franchise across Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA).
Before joining Citi, Emre worked at Coca-Cola in Turkey and Prudential Securities in the United States. Emre holds a B.Sc. in Management from Bilkent University and a M.Sc. in International Business and Finance from New Hampshire College.
He is currently the Chair of AmCham Türkiye as well as having Board Memberships in Citi Islamic Investment Bank E.C in Bahrain – (CIIB), Citibank NV Netherlands, Citibank A.Ş. Türkiye, TAIK (Türkiye US Business Council), Bank Association of Türkiye and YASED (International Investors Association).
