On June 3rd, 2025, a key milestone took place during the Nor-Shipping 2025 exhibition in Oslo: Med Marine and Borusan Cat signed a Letter of Intent for the construction of VoltRA, the first fully electric tugboat powered by Caterpillar’s innovative Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery system.
The project is developed in close collaboration with Caterpillar and Borusan Cat. The first VoltRA tug will be launched in 2026.
