Yusuf Zahit Gündoğdu, President of Miyamoto International Türkiye, has lent his support to a disaster project in Indonesia, a country located in one of the world’s most active seismic zones. As part of the Urban Communities for Resilient Action (KUAT) project, Mr. Gündoğdu shared Türkiye’s earthquake experience with Indonesian authorities in a detailed report. He addressed the history of seismic building codes, key elements of Türkiye’s multi-layered building inspection system, including stakeholders, and the supervision of special buildings. Under the theme of “Urban Transformation for Seismic Risk Mitigation,” he also discussed the identification of risk zones, demolition, reconstruction, and infrastructure improvement, highlighting both the pros and cons of these processes.
